lab 5 March10(heat engine and cycle)

This is a summary and 6 problems we did for isobaric, isochoric, isothermal process on an online application

The difference between isothermal and adiabatic is adiabatic has a rapid slope, because it has no time for heat flow.deltaU=-W
Ithothermal has a slow deltaV. and W=Q

What happens when a large rubber band that is stretched by a hanging weight is heated with a heat gun or hair dryer?
We assume it will shrink
The conclusion is coincident. Polymers heated and  curl up, so it will shrink

Design a mass lifting engine by using this polymer's property. We use heat to do the work

Then we do a problem for heat engine cycle. It is  a rectangular shape pv diagram. We calculate the internal energy, heat and work.

Then we calculate the internal energy change for a apple lifter using the work done by gas. given p and v for each point
